I didn't set out to become a consultant. In fact, for most of my career, I was deep in the trenches of software development — building web-based systems and integrations for telecom companies. For over a decade, I thrived in the backend — designing architecture, managing enterprise deployments, and solving complex problems behind the scenes.

But everything shifted when I joined a fast-growing startup with just three developers. We were building everything from scratch: business automations, financial metrics, approval workflows — anything the business needed, we made it happen. I had a front-row seat as the company scaled and prepared to go public; eventually navigating the intensity of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The deadlines were nonstop, the pressure was real, and the list of projects never stopped growing.

Then life threw me a beautiful curveball — my wife and I welcomed our first child. That should've been a season of joy, but I found myself burned out, mentally overwhelmed, and questioning what balance really meant. I'd spent so much time building systems for others that I'd lost sight of building the life I wanted for my own family.

So, I did something unexpected — I stepped away from tech and dove headfirst into real estate investing. It was unfamiliar territory, but I was determined to learn. Starting a business from the ground up taught me more than I expected — not just about operations, but about mindset, grit, and the importance of systems. I applied everything I knew from my development background to streamline processes and improve outcomes.

Still, something was missing.

What I missed most was collaborating with other business owners. Listening to their frustrations. Helping them find clarity. Designing solutions that actually made a difference. That's when I realized: my passion had always been helping people — not just through code, but through strategic thinking, problem solving, and process improvement.
